Offline Event Mode (Web & PWA)
Keep working at venues with no signal — right from the web app or installed PWA. Save an event to your device and its details, session timeline, services, prep checklists, and the first page of photo thumbnails (up to 100) stay readable offline — or choose 'Download all thumbnails' from the offline chip to keep every photo thumbnail for that event, with a size estimate shown before you confirm. Prep-list edits made offline are queued on your device and sync back automatically when you reconnect, with a visible pending-changes count, a last-synced time, and a manual 'Sync now' button. Up to 10 events are stored per device, a clear offline indicator appears whenever the connection drops, and everything is wiped on logout. Heavy tools like the design wizard and photo editor stay online-only; on event night the desktop Companion covers fully offline printing, booth, and slideshow.
How to
- Open an event and choose 'Save for offline' from the offline chip in the header — or turn on automatic saving of upcoming events in Settings → Offline events.
- Optionally install the app (Add to Home Screen / Install) so it opens instantly, even offline.
- At the venue, open the event as usual — details, timeline, prep lists, and cached photo thumbnails load from your device, marked 'Showing offline copy'.
- Tick off and edit prep items normally; a badge shows how many changes are waiting to sync.
- Back online, changes sync automatically — or press 'Sync now' in Settings → Offline events.
Common questions
What exactly works offline in the web app or PWA?
For downloaded events: event details, the session timeline, services, prep checklists (including edits), and the first page of photo thumbnails — or all of them for events where you chose 'Download all thumbnails'. Pages you visited recently may also still render from cache. Uploading photos, the design wizard, the photo editor, payments, and sharing all need a connection — they show a friendly offline notice instead of an error.
What happens to changes I make while offline?
They're saved on your device and replayed automatically when the connection returns. You'll see how many changes are waiting, when the last sync happened, and you can force a sync with 'Sync now'. If the same item was also changed elsewhere while you were offline, your edit still applies and you get a conflict notice — nothing is silently lost.
How is this different from the desktop Companion?
The Companion is the event-night workhorse: it caches print, photo-booth, slideshow, and cheat-sheet kits while online and then runs completely offline. Offline event mode in the web app/PWA is for planning and checking on site — reading the event plan, ticking prep lists, and glancing at photos when there's no signal.
Troubleshooting
An event I expected to be available offline isn't there.
Check Settings → Offline events: at most 10 events are stored per device and older unpinned copies are removed first when the limit is reached. Open the event while online and use 'Save for offline' to pin it manually. Also note offline copies are removed on logout.
My offline changes show as 'waiting to sync' even though I'm back online.
Give it a few seconds — sync retries automatically with a short delay. If it still doesn't clear, press 'Sync now' in Settings → Offline events, and make sure the device really has internet access (a Wi-Fi network without connectivity looks online but isn't).
