How AI Credits Work
Every billable AI action — image, sticker and frame generation, background removal, photo-editor AI, album suggestions, person matching, video AI, and photo-booth transforms — draws from one AI credit balance. Your plan includes a monthly AI credit allowance, each operation has a published fixed price, and failed operations never charge. Top-up credit packs cover any AI once the monthly allowance runs out. During a live event, booth and customer AI never stops even at zero balance; the shortfall becomes an overage debt that your next credits pay off first.
How to
- Check your monthly AI credit allowance and the published per-operation price list on your Billing & Plan page.
- Run AI as usual — your included monthly allowance is spent first, then any top-up credits.
- Buy a top-up credit pack from the Credits section of Billing & Plan to cover AI beyond the monthly allowance; credits are added instantly.
- Set a per-event AI cap so customer/guest AI (photo booth and the design wizard) can't overrun a single event — you'll get a warning near the cap and again when it's reached.
- During a live event (from 6 hours before start to 24 hours after), booth and customer AI keeps working even at zero balance; any shortfall becomes an overage debt.
- If your balance goes negative outside a live event, top up to clear the debt — your incoming credits pay the debt first and all AI tools switch back on instantly.
Common questions
Is there a separate credit balance for each AI feature?
No. There is one AI credit balance for your whole account, and it covers every billable AI operation — generation, background removal, photo-editor AI, album suggestions, person matching, video AI and photo-booth transforms. Your monthly plan allowance is spent first, then top-up credits.
Where do I see the price of each AI operation?
The published per-operation price list is on your Billing & Plan page, next to your allowance and credit balance. Prices are fixed and shown before you spend. We can change the list, but any change applies only to future operations — it's never retroactive.
What happens to my AI during a live event if I run out of credits?
Nothing stops. From 6 hours before an event starts until 24 hours after, booth and customer AI keep working even at a zero balance. Instead of blocking, the shortfall accrues as an AI overage debt, which your next credits (a top-up, your monthly refresh, or a plan change) pay off first.
My balance went negative outside an event — what freezes and what stays?
Your own AI tools pause right away. Customers on events that were already open keep AI for a short grace window (about 12 hours by default), then customer AI is hidden; new events can't use AI while you're in debt. All of your existing photos, designs and deliveries stay fully available — nothing is deleted or held back. Topping up clears the debt and instantly restores every AI tool.
How is running out of AI credits different from running out of storage?
They're handled separately. AI credits gate only new AI operations, with the live-event grace and tiered freeze above. Storage overage instead pauses only new uploads (reminders come at first notice, then +1 hour, then every 12 hours) — your existing materials and deliveries are never held back in either case.
Troubleshooting
An AI action failed but I want to be sure I wasn't charged.
Failed operations never charge — credits are deducted only on success. Check your credit history in the Credits section of Billing & Plan; a failed run leaves no deduction. Just retry the action.
My AI tools are greyed out and say I'm in AI debt.
Your AI credit balance is negative outside a live-event window, so your own AI tools are paused. Open Billing & Plan and buy a top-up credit pack (or wait for your monthly allowance to refresh); incoming credits pay the debt first and all AI tools turn back on instantly.
